Per agreement among Jefferson County Emergency Management, Mountain Resource Center, and DSV, the Jefferson County Emergency Preparedness Guide is now available at the Mountain Resource Center, 11030 Kitty Drive, in Conifer. Ask for Vicki and/or "Guide".
This 8 1/2" x 11" 64 page guide contains a large amount of information useful for every household in preparing for and responding to an emergency.
The information includes:
Phone Numbers for Fire Departments and Law Enforcement Agencies
Explanation of 911 and the Emergency Preparedness Network (EPN)
Emergency Planning and Disaster Supplies
Evacuation - Planning for and performing
Shelter - In-place and Mass Care shelter information
Animals in Disaster - Pets, Large Animals, and Wildlife
Recovering from disaster
How to prepare for and mitigate the hazards we face:
Natural Hazards, including floods, thunderstorms, lightning, tornadoes, winter storms, extreme heat, and fires (a LOT of good mitigation information!)
Man-Made and Technological Hazards, including home safety information, how to protect yourself against criminals, hazardous materials incidents, and national security emergencies
Preparedness Checklist
Every household should have, read, discuss, and keep this Guide handy!
The Guide is also available at the Jefferson County Office of Emergency Management, 800 Jefferson County Parkway - The Dakota Building (opposite side from the Coroner's office), 2nd floor.
