Resolve to be Ready in 2008
In a recent national survey conducted by the Ad Council, 91 percent of Americans agreed that taking some simple steps to prepare for emergencies could help protect themselves and their families in the event of an emergency. However, only 54 percent had taken any of the three steps recommended by the U.S. Department of Homeland Security’s Ready Campaign, including getting an emergency supply kit, making a family
emergency plan and being informed about the different types of emergencies that could occur and their appropriate responses.
Don’t wait. Set a date. Resolve to be Ready in 2008.
There is a large amount of information in our
Fire Mitigation/Disaster Preparation forum to assist
you in getting prepared.
Prepare. Plan. Stay Informed.

Fire Mitigation
It is never the wrong
season to work on fire mitigation on your property. Now is the time to
clean out gutters, rake up needles and leaves etc. When we have snow
on the ground is a great time to plan for spring's mitigation
activities.
The only
time it is too late to work on fire mitigation on your property is
when you have been evacuated.
If you have not started on wildfire
mitigation on your property yet, you should do so! If you know what
needs to be done, make a checklist and get to work on it. If you aren't sure, you can get some
helpful tips from our Fire
News Forum, and the Firewise
website, or contact your local fire department for assistance. Or,
you may want to contact Fire Ready
to have professionals do it for you.
Remember to check with your local
fire department for proper procedures BEFORE burning slash!
